| [2006-04-17 14:13:11] | benedict avila nice pictures! i was also in batanes last week. i was also captivated by the sights. i was telling our guide na i\'m frustrated because i cannot capture the beauty of batanes in a photo. kasi limited ang kita mo sa screen. iba ang actual na at least 180 degrees ang view. in many areas 360 degrees ang view. bring extra batteries and storage if you intend to take pictures. its also a nice place to just be with significant other just holding hands and communing with nature. basta iba siya from other places i\'ve been. galing... will be back soon. |

We still have our ancestral home, a typical but larger and more spanish looking, Ivatan abode. With ballusters still damaged by Japanese ships\' artillery during WW2. See you in Batanes!!! |
| [2006-03-02 20:48:50] | Victor S. De Padua Hi, my Dad, Dr. Dante B. De Padua is from Basco, Batanes. I myself have been there a couple of times. The Last time was in the early 90\'s. To make a long story short, there is no place in the country quite like Batanes. Plain and simply, it is just beautiful there. The people, the scenery, the culture, the language, nature, the climate, the food, evrything about Batanes is unique and beautiful, \"mavid!!!\". Rolling pasture land hills like in Europe, winter chills that would make baguio seem like the sahara! Almond trees, no almond trees anywhere else in the philippines. White sand beaches, they are all around the islands, with intact coral reefs to boot!! Lobster? They dont really like them there, they prefer the super delicious but endangered \"tatus\" or coconut crab. So lobsters are \"sampu sinko\" there. No crime, locks on doors are for keeping the weather out. Everyone greets everyone else whether they know you or not. Devoutly Catholic, the old fashioned way. Schools, students are great, so many end up in UP after High School. Well, you have to go there to know what I\'m talking about. Let\'s just hope the advent of the internet, cell phones, satellite TV, increased tourism only have a positive effect on the province. Let\'s just hope the powers that be (again!) move to preserve Batanes as it is and not exploit it like the mistakes known as Puerto Galera or Boracay!!! Dios Mamajes!!! God be with you!!! |

| [2005-03-24 06:43:47] | joshua paradero i never expected that we have magnificent sights like that in the philippines. i thought i was looking at pictures taken in ireland or a european seaside places.you did a wonderful job. some may not like the pictures because they're looking for something different.as always beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. i just happened to click on your site while browsing for articles or site about bahay na bato or as we used to call them as a small kid "bahay kastila" your choices of sites and and the angle you have taken them shows that you have eyes for beauty and wonderful things. the shots i would say are artistically done .keep it up and don't just limit your sight to batanes but also try to show the beauty of the rest of our country and share it to the world. i'm from the philippines and had been living here in illinois for more than 20 years. i never expected than batanes is that so beautiful and you made it possible for me to appreciate that. please continue documenting the beauty of our country because the way things are going in this world it may not last forever. congrats for your magnificent pictures. i would recommend that you try to have it published in major magazines in the philippines but make sure you have the copy right to these pictures.only a true filipino can appreciate the beauty of their country and you have proven that. you are an artrist. |
